New York– Tonight!

Tuesday, January 9th, 2018

Take advantage of the lull in the dreadful weather and join me tonight at The Corner Bookstore– to celebrate a book set in New York in January in dreadful weather.

Hmmm. Funny how that works.

In any event, there will be wine to warm us, cheese (because wine), and general merriment (because wine and cheese).

Hope to see you tonight!

When: Tonight! January 9, 6:00
Where: The Corner Bookstore, 93rd & Madison

THE ENGLISH WIFE is here!

Tuesday, January 9th, 2018

It’s been a long wait, but… The English Wife has finally arrived!

English Wife in snow

According to the reviewers at AAR: The English Wife is a tale of smoke and mirrors. It is a fable of wealth and power set during the 1890s swan song of the Gilded Age. It’s a mystery, a romance, a coming of age story and easily one of the best books you’ll read this year…. Addictive, mesmerizing, engrossing. The English Wife is all of those things and more. I believe this book will be the standard by which people measure all their other reading experiences in 2018.”

You can find The English Wife in hardcover at your favorite local bookstore, at Barnes & Noble, at Amazon, Books-A-Million, Indiebound, and Powell’s; in e-book on Kindle and Nook; and on audio CD.

If you would like to order a signed and personalized copy, just give a shout to the folks at FoxTale Book Shoppe , The Poisoned Pen , or Murder by the Book and they’ll make it happen!

If you’d like a signed book, but have already ordered your copy, just send me an email at willig@post.harvard.edu with “Bookplate” in the header, and I’ll pop a signed bookplate in the mail to you.

To learn more about some of the background material I used to research The English Wife, just drop by Willig Winter at Strange and Random Happenstance.

And for my random ramblings about just about everything, check out my Ask Me Anything over on AuthorsAMA!

Is there anything I’m forgetting?

Oh, yes. If you want to find me on book tour, just check out the Have Author Will Travel panel to your left! I’ll be celebrating at the Corner Bookstore in New York at 6:00 tonight. There will be wine. And cheese. And general merriment. New tour stops are still being added, so check back soon for more locations!

Happy birthday to The English Wife and happy reading to you!

Ask Me Anything!

Sunday, January 7th, 2018

In honor of the release of The English Wife, I’m hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) over on AuthorsAMA!

If you’re like me, and had never heard of AMA before, it’s a really big Q&A, where anyone can lob in a question. I’ll be taking questions from now until Tuesday– and then all the answers will pop up on Tuesday afternoon.

So head on over to AuthorsAMA and ask me anything you like! I’m going to try to get to as many questions as possible between now and Tuesday. And it’s always fascinating scrolling through and seeing what other people have asked….

Weekly Reading Round-Up

Friday, January 5th, 2018

Happy 2018, all!

The new year came in with a blast of frost– in other words, perfect weather for curling up at home with a book.

It’s been an eclectic reading week for me. I started off with the first book in Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files series, Storm Front, about wizard Harry Dresden battling the forces of evil in present day Chicago.

Moving from black magic to other forms of mayhem, next up was Laurie Gelman’s Class Mom, a satirical novel about a year in the life of a kindergarten mom who brings new levels of snark to the position of class mom. (For any other Jen Lancaster fans out there, the tone reminded me a lot of Bitter is the New Black— possibly also because the heroine was named Jen.)

With a Nor’easter closing in on New York, it was time for a wintery favorite: Trisha Ashley’s A Winter’s Tale, in which a woman unexpectedly inherits the familial stately pile and rural English hijinks ensue. I can never resist a house book…

What have you been reading during this first week of the new year?

p.s. Only four days to go until The English Wife! Here’s a snowy book on a snowy day….
