Speaking of Contests….

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

There are several people who are owed Orchid Affair ARCs for their fabulous contributions to the Title That Book contest back in the spring.

I don’t actually have the ARCs yet (I’m hoping they’ll show up sometime this month), but I just wanted to let you know that I haven’t forgotten about you, Liz, Veronica, Robyn, Diya, Devan and Allison! As soon as I have those ARCs, the first six are yours….

For a fun flashback, here are the winning titles— picked by popular acclaim– from the Title That Book contest:

THE ORCHID AFFAIR

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

The Orchid Affair, aka Pink VII, has an official debut date! You can find it in stores starting January 20th, 2011. Orchid Affair is already available for pre-order on Amazon. As soon as I have more info– and a cover!– I’ll post it here.

For those who missed it the first time around, you can find the first chapter of The Orchid Affair here.

Pink VII has a title!

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Which is a very good thing, since I was getting very bored with calling it Pink VII. The manuscript formerly known as Pink VII shall henceforth be… The Orchid Affair.

Thanks so much to everyone who helped in constructing the title!

The Titles with the Mostest

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Hi, all! Sorry for being somewhat AWOL recently…. I’m in the final throes of writing Pink VII, so my brain has been elsewhere. Two hundred and six years elsewhere, for the most part.

I have, however, finally totted up the votes for the multiplicity of title suggestions you so generously provided for Pink VII (which I am getting very bored with calling Pink VII). It was a bit of a challenge, with so many, but I went over the results a few times to try to make sure I hadn’t dropped or double-counted votes. Here’s what I came out with:

In third place:

The Ordeal of the Clandestine Nightshade (Liz, #133)
The Guise of the Fleur de Lis (Veronica, #96)

In second place:

The Ruse of the Silver Thistle (Robyn, #157)

And the number one title:

The Persuasion of the Pale Magnolia (Diya, with a nod to Devan)

Congrats, Liz, Veronica, Robyn, Diya and Devan! I owe you all advance copies, as soon as there are advance copies to be had.

Title deliberations are still ongoing, but I’ll let you all know as soon as we settle on a final version!

Title That Book: Round Two

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Now that all the title suggestions are in, here’s the big question: which do you think most screams Pink VII?

Voting is now open for the second round of “Title that Book!” With so many great ideas (you can find them all here), I could use all the assistance I can get in weeding them down to a few front-runners. Between now and Friday, March 26th, you can help me out by listing your three favorites in order of preference here, in the comments section of this post.

The contributors of the three top picks, regardless of whether or not those titles are actually used, will receive advance copies of Pink VII. The contributor(s) of the actual title will receive an advance copy of Pink VII and a credit in the acknowledgments.

Thanks so much to everyone for your help with the annual title conundrum!

A Flourish of Flowers

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Hi, all! Just a reminder that today is the last day to submit a potential flower/title for Pink VII, currently known as The Something of the Something Something. You can find the first chapter of Pink VII– and all the current submissions– here.

Title That Book!

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Once again, I find myself at a botanical loss. Yes, folks, it’s time for a title for Pink VII. As a good friend of mine would say, I got nothin’.

I fling myself on your ingenuity. Below, I’ve attached the first chapter of the as-yet-untitled Pink VII.

From now until Monday the 22nd, I’ll be accepting any and all suggestions for titles, based on the excerpt below. Once the potential titles are in, I’m going to throw it open to a vote (with the caveat that my editor has the ultimate choice).

The contributor(s) of the winning title will receive an advance copy of Pink VII and a credit in the acknowledgments.

Let the naming begin!
