And the winner is….

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Thanks so much to everyone who contributed her talent and ingenuity to the Garden Intrigue Pink for Pink Project!

Often, in these contests, I’ve noticed that a clear winner emerges early on. In this case, the voting was all over the map– which, I think, speaks to the excellence of all the designs contributed. There wasn’t a single entry that didn’t receive multiple votes.

In the end, however, a few designs did pull out ahead. (If this were a horse race, we would all have been on the edge of our seats, mint juleps in hand.)

Third runner up is…

#17! “Emma Delagardie, Grand Inquisitor for Poetic Excellence”, by Shelli.

Second runner up is…

#11! The Pink Carnation flip-flops, by Elizabeth.

First runner up is…

#19! The “England” coffee mug, by Laura.

And the winner is…

#18! The Garden Intrigue t-shirt, by Vizelle.

As a thank-you to everyone who voted, we have one more winner, a judge chosen at random from among all those who voted. Our additional winner is Donna, of Comment #112.

Congratulations, all! Of course, what you win is….

You know the drill: just email me with the relevant details and I’ll pop your ARC in the mail to you.

Everyone else, stay tuned for another contest next Wednesday! (Hint: this one involves poetry.)

Read Pink!

Monday, September 26th, 2011

Tomorrow, The Secret History of the Pink Carnation comes out in a special Read Pink edition for the benefit of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

So, instead of our usual Monday “if you like”, I thought it might be appropriate to list our favorite pink (and Pink) items. Here are some of mine:

— pink icing sugar on petit fours;

— the Pink comics drawn by Joanne Renaud;

— pink in your cheeks on a crisp winter’s day;

— pink cupcakes on Valentine’s Day;

— BCRF’s pink ribbon– and the amazing researchers, scientists, and fundraisers who make that mean what it does.

What are your favorite pink things?

Shop Pink for Pink!

Friday, October 1st, 2010

The Pink for Pink Store is officially up and running! You can find it at www.cafepress.com/ThePinkCarnationShop. All proceeds from the Pink Carnation shop (10% of purchase price) are to go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Huge thanks to the amazing Jen Chen and her colleagues at the BCRF for all the amazing things they do, and for letting all of us be a part of it with Pink for Pink.

If you have any feedback on the designs in the Pink shop, please send it my way! I’m still getting the hang of Cafe Press, so the Pink for Pink Shop is very much of a work in progress.

The master plan is to launch a bigger, better, more complicated Pink for Pink Shop in January. So to everyone who offered to donate a design, I’ll be in touch!

Favorite Pink Lines?

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

The Pink for Pink store launches tomorrow! (It’s even up on the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s calendar as an official event!)

Given my technological deficiencies, this is definitely going to be an ongoing project. As I strive to put my best T-shirt forward for tomorrow, I turn to you for advice: which Pink line would you most like to see on a mug/T-shirt/water bottle, etc.?

Any other ideas and suggestions also welcome!

Pink for Pink

Monday, September 27th, 2010

I did mention that I had some surprises to unveil this week, right? Here’s Surprise #1:

The Pink for Pink Store!

Coming soon to a Cafe Press near you, we’ll have Pink mugs, totes, coffee carriers, T-shirts, and whatever else they let me play with.

A large impetus behind this is the sheer fun of getting to play with Pink designs. (I’m thinking Miss Gwen quotes on coffee mugs, here….) But there is an ulterior motive. All proceeds from the Pink shop (10% of the purchase price) will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The Pink shop is still under construction but I’m hoping to get it up and running by Friday, October 1, in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we can all shop Pink for Pink!
