Monday Give Away: UK Pink Collection

Just when I think I’ve uncovered the last of the author copies…

I opened a box that I’d thought was a care package of books from a friend. It turned out to be another stack of UK Pink books, from the first Pink up through The Mischief of the Mistletoe.

There are just enough in there to make up one set of Pink I through Mistletoe.

So, for the chance to win a collection of six Pink books, here’s your question:

— What’s your favorite BBC or ITV show?

The winner will be announced on Thursday.

  4. Virginia on October 19, 2015 at 11:52 am

You want ONE favorite? Is it possible to have a single favorite? I guess I’ll say Call the Midwife… and Downton Abbey.

  10. Mary D. on October 19, 2015 at 12:00 pm

Downton Abbey, Sherlock, and The Crimson Field. I like all the Masterpiece Mystery shows. I miss Morse, but I’m hoping Endeavor comes back soon.

  16. Claire on October 19, 2015 at 12:17 pm

It’s almost impossible to choose between all of the ones I love, but Sherlock, Downton Abbey, Midsummer Murders, Lewis, and Grantchester are all up there. Also recently discovered the Great British Bake Off 🙂

  17. Betty Strohecker on October 19, 2015 at 12:30 pm

Loved Grantchester and Poldark this year. Would love to add these books to my Pink collection.

  18. Keith Willis on October 19, 2015 at 12:35 pm

  20. Kari P. on October 19, 2015 at 12:57 pm

I am really into Poldark right now… I mean the guy playing Poldark doesn’t hurt my eyes! I don’t know if that counts as BBC or ITV (I don’t know what ITV is?) But it is on Masterpiece Classic, so I say it counts!!!

    • Kari P. on October 20, 2015 at 2:39 pm

Oh, I also really love Peaky Blinders! It is on the BBC in the UK, but Netflix this side of the pond!!

  21. Bonnie McHenry on October 19, 2015 at 12:59 pm

Call the Midwife! Thought provoking, funny, sad and such touching stories.

  22. Karen on October 19, 2015 at 1:04 pm

    Doctor WHo. Sherlock, Lewis

  23. Meredith A on October 19, 2015 at 1:07 pm

I am going with a miniseries on this one: BBC’s North and South.

  24. Rebecca on October 19, 2015 at 1:14 pm

Doctor Who. I watched it off and on before Peter Capaldi, but I really, really like him, and now it’s a favorite.

  25. Lauren H on October 19, 2015 at 1:18 pm

All of the BBC 90’s miniseries: P&P, Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Persuasion, Vanity Fair, etc. etc. etc.

  26. Nikki B on October 19, 2015 at 1:50 pm

DOCTOR WHO. DOCTOR WHO. DOCTOR WHO. Sherlock. Orphan Black (Canadian, but shown on BBC America).

    As Time Goes By!

  28. Janice Crombie Cross on October 19, 2015 at 1:54 pm

    Coronation Street

There are many British shows I love but Corrie is closest to my heart. I am a Canadian but born in England, and I have watched Corrie since I was a little girl. First with my Mum, them my Mother in Law, and now even my son watches often enough to know the general story line!

As a Canadian many of our books are from the British publishers so would love this set!

  29. Courtney on October 19, 2015 at 2:03 pm

I’ve never watched BBC or ITV, but I saw an episode of “Lewis” (the Inspector Morse spinoff) once, because an actor I liked was a guest star. I love the detective show format, and would watch again…If I knew if I had ITV or not…

    • Courtney on October 19, 2015 at 2:05 pm

And I finally watched the 1995 P&P miniseries when I was retreading the book…fabulous!

  30. Denise on October 19, 2015 at 2:07 pm

Loved the new “Up Stairs Down Stairs” (only lasted one season) and of course, Downtown Abbey. If it counts, Lucy Worlsey has some great shows on BBC4 etc

  31. Clara on October 19, 2015 at 2:26 pm

If I have to chose just one then it’s a comedy. I love watching the BBC reruns of “Keeping up Appearances”…but really there are so many great shows. I loved the dramas and period pieces…but the comedies are the best 🙂

  32. Zelda on October 19, 2015 at 2:30 pm

    Gavin & Stacey!

  33. Amanda B on October 19, 2015 at 3:08 pm

Dr. Who, Sherlock, Peaky Blinders, and Downton Abbey for sure!!! (Btw, I loved North and South!!)

  34. Ana F. on October 19, 2015 at 3:26 pm

Doctor who! And Sherlock and broadchurch. Sometimes I think I should live there instead of the states. London is one of my favorite places.

  35. Christine Holt on October 19, 2015 at 3:35 pm

Too hard to choose! But Sherlock and Call the Midwife rank high up there!

  36. Sheryl W. on October 19, 2015 at 3:40 pm

    I like call of Midwife.

  37. Kimberly on October 19, 2015 at 3:43 pm

No such thing as ‘a favorite bbc show’. Too many to choose…
Inspector George Gently, Black Books, Sherlock, Monroe, Absolutely Fabulous, The Vicar of Dibley, Getting On, Roger & Val, Dr. Who, Young Ones, Rev. And SO MANY MORE! I’m a BBC addict!

  38. Ardis Hall on October 19, 2015 at 3:54 pm

Sherlock Holmes with Benedict Cumberbatch. He is terrific!

  39. Alexandra on October 19, 2015 at 3:54 pm

    Poldark and Call the Midwife.

  40. LynnS on October 19, 2015 at 3:57 pm

Sherlock! Also in the middle of watching and enjoying the adaptation of “Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. If they did the Pink books, each season could be 3-4 episodes long and we could watch it for 12 years!!

  41. Alexa on October 19, 2015 at 4:08 pm

    Coupling!

  42. Jennifer Williams on October 19, 2015 at 4:20 pm

    Love Poldark!

  43. bn100 on October 19, 2015 at 4:28 pm

    don’t watch the BBC

  44. Jane on October 19, 2015 at 4:42 pm

Sherlock or Endeavor would be my two choices. Then there is Downton Abbey, Vicar of Dibley, Keeping up Appearances… so many choices. What fantastic covers on the UK collection.

  45. Jennrenee on October 19, 2015 at 4:46 pm

How can I pick just one???? I love so many. I guess I will have to pick Doctor Who.

  46. Christine Gorsek on October 19, 2015 at 5:22 pm

    Downton Abbey for sure!

  47. Chelsea G on October 19, 2015 at 5:59 pm

The North and South miniseries for sure!!

  48. Dara on October 19, 2015 at 6:13 pm

Vicious! Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi as cranky old gay men. Really, what more do you want?

  49. Beth on October 19, 2015 at 6:36 pm

    Call the Midwife! My favorite!

  50. Bev Fontaine on October 19, 2015 at 6:44 pm

Soooooo hard! But if I get to choose only one it is “Love In a Cold Climate.” The one from the early 80s where Judi Dench was the mom and Michael Williams was Davey. The best, funniest, most entertaining Masterpiece Theater ever! It got me, then my 3 daughters, hooked on Nancy Mitford and her sisters.

  51. Alice Herrera on October 19, 2015 at 6:44 pm

    Doctor Who and Unforgotten

  52. Mary on October 19, 2015 at 6:46 pm

    Sherlock!

  53. Liz D. on October 19, 2015 at 7:19 pm

So hard to choose!! But am anxiously awaiting Poldark’s second season so will have to go with that. Love Ross and Demelza’s relationship.

  54. Alice on October 19, 2015 at 7:47 pm

The Vicar of Dibley! Dawn French is amazing!

  55. Maria on October 19, 2015 at 8:01 pm

Picking one is hard! Doctor Who because I’ve watched it the longest.

  56. Verity W on October 19, 2015 at 8:19 pm

Too many to chose from, but THAT Pride and Prejudice mini series, and the classic Joan Hickson Miss Marples I think. And Red Dwarf. And Great British Bake-Off. And Strictly Come Dancing.

But the one I’ve watched the most are those Joan Hickson Miss Marples. Even if one of the victims is called Verity!

  57. Caryn S on October 19, 2015 at 8:27 pm

    Doctor Who!

  58. Joan on October 19, 2015 at 8:51 pm

My daughter and I both love North and South with Richard Armitage. Also Northanger Abbey and, of course, Downton Abbey. LOVE the UK covers.

  59. Susan Gorman on October 19, 2015 at 8:56 pm

    Downton Abbey
    Poldark

  61. Sarah on October 19, 2015 at 9:09 pm

When I’m feeling silly: Top Gear
    When I’m feeling smart: Sherlock
When I’m feeling ridiculous: ‘Allo ‘Allo
When I’m feeling romantic: Pride and Prejudice
and when I’m feeling sad: I read “Secret History of the Pink Carnation” and I feel better!

  62. Melissa D'Aunoy on October 19, 2015 at 10:53 pm

Top gear, but only for the silly competitions, less about the car stuff. I love Hammond, Captain Slow, and crazy Clarkson.

  63. Cher on October 19, 2015 at 10:53 pm

    Doctor Who!!!

  64. Heather Navarro on October 19, 2015 at 10:56 pm

  67. Teje Ellis on October 19, 2015 at 11:46 pm

My favorite at present is The Musketeers.

  68. Karlene on October 20, 2015 at 1:18 am

    Doc Martin and Poldark!

  69. Cassandra on October 20, 2015 at 1:38 am

I recently watched The Fall, but my overall favorite is Coupling. I still find it hilarious. I scratched my eye with a paper bag when I walked by Steven Moffat on the floor of SDCC and geeked out this past July.

  70. Jessica on October 20, 2015 at 5:16 am

I have to pick just one — dang it! I think it’s a three way tie between Black Books, Doctor Who and MI-5/Spooks. I would have chosen North and South, but that was a limited series.

  71. SuzanneH on October 20, 2015 at 6:26 am

Blimey, how can I do that, there are so many of them? My favourites of the ones that have been on TV this year(I would be here all night if I got into past favourites) are:

    New Tricks
    Death In Paradise
    Poldark
    Call The Midwife
    Poirot
    Marple
    Death Comes To Pemberley
Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond
    Sherlock

That is just the dramas. There have been far too many good historical documentaries to list.

  72. Nikki on October 20, 2015 at 1:20 pm

Call the Midwife! I really should read the book as well.

  73. Chelsea F on October 20, 2015 at 1:40 pm

    Can’t choose just one!

    Poldark
    Muskteers
    Red Dwarf
    Coronation Street
    Downton Abbey
    Call the Midwife
    Mr. Selfridge
    Fleming

thank goodness for BBC America, Youtube, and PBS or I’d never be able to stay up to date!

  74. Kristy on October 20, 2015 at 2:28 pm

    All Creatures Great and Small
    ‘Allo ‘Allo
    Sherlock

  75. Olivia on October 20, 2015 at 2:28 pm

    Blackadder!!

  76. Jane B. on October 20, 2015 at 2:37 pm

Downton Abbey and As Time Goes By. Though right now I’m grateful for anything not set in or around WWII, and I suspect Downton Abbey is getting close to that.

  77. Angie on October 20, 2015 at 3:14 pm

I have a new favorite every couple of years because I love the BBC! But, I will always particularly cherish Blackadder 🙂 The set looks lovely.

  78. Stephanie Langer on October 20, 2015 at 3:48 pm

    Sherlock!! and Dr. Who 🙂

  79. Karen H on October 20, 2015 at 5:03 pm

Doctor Who and Downton. I’m not sure which is #1, which says something very strange about my personality!

  80. Pat D on October 20, 2015 at 5:25 pm

Let’s see. . . Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Broadchurch, Poldark. Those are all can’t miss shows.

  81. Freya Shipley on October 20, 2015 at 9:08 pm

The Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series from Granada. Especially the ones with Edward Hardwicke.<3

  82. Diane on October 20, 2015 at 9:44 pm

Call the Midwife…but Downton comes in a close second

  83. Khadija Shabbir on October 20, 2015 at 11:04 pm

Definitely Downton Abbey! Love that show.

  84. Jennifer on October 20, 2015 at 11:04 pm

  87. Mickey on October 21, 2015 at 1:01 am

Just one?!? Doctor Who…no, wait, As Time Goes By…no, Black Books…, um, just about ALL of them!

I’m just a bit of an Anglophile and find a lot of their TV programming to be much more entertaining than ours.

  88. Momma Sue on October 21, 2015 at 1:58 pm

Doctor Who! Hands down, no contest.

  89. Monica on October 21, 2015 at 3:37 pm
