Weekly Reading Round-Up

As I await the revision notes for Pink XII, I’ve been finishing up my Laura Resnick-a-thon, with her fifth and sixth Esther Diamond novels (they remind me of a paranormal Vicky Bliss): Polterheist and The Misfortune Cookie.

Once I’ve got that out of my system– and the Pink revisions done– I have a truly tantalizing stack of new books waiting for me, including:

— an ARC of the first book in Deanna Raybourn’s new Veronica Speedwell series, A Curious Beginning (gloat, gloat);

— M.J. Rose’s The Witch of Painted Sorrows (hello, Belle Epoque Paris!);

— Michelle Moran’s Rebel Queen (mid-19th century India!);

— and C.W. Gortner’s Mademoiselle Chanel (self-explanatory).

There’s also a big pile of non-fiction books, but more on those later.

What have you been reading this week?

    I’ve been devouring Ella Quinn’s The Marriage Game series. How did I not know these existed?!? There is even a female spy, of sorts, undercover.

    And, I’m so jealous that you have a Veronica Speedwell ARC. I am very impatiently waiting for it’s publication.

    I read Julie Klassen’s The Secret of Pembrooke Park and loved it.

    Also, am enjoying the reread of Blood Lily.

    Read three novel Kiru Taye. Love in Africa.

    Firstly I’ve been catching up on the re-read of you books, PINK FOR ALL SEASONS RULES! Secondly I read an ARC of the newest Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences by Pip Ballantine and Tee Morris because I’m going to be a part of their upcoming blog tour. Gotta say, The Diamond Conspiracy brought back the awesome from the first book that was lacking in the 2nd and 3rd volumes.

    My daughter and I just finished the latest C.S. Harris Who Buries The Dead (I let her read it first). I am now reading the first Bill Slider mystery. So far I’m enjoying it. There is also the latest Molly Murphy on my TBR shelf and Anne Perry’s latest Inspector Pitt coming out in a week!

    I had a series of non-starters but am now reading an ARC of Empire of Deception by Dean Jobb, about a swindler who probably would have had the Ponzi scheme named after him instead, except that Ponzi got caught first.

    I finally got through Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. It had interesting events but overall was too long and dragged for me. I’ll be interested to see how it comes out on Masterpiece Theater. For something light I read Werewolf Sings the Blues by Jennifer Harlow. Then the latest Hamish MacBeth, Death of a Liar. Right now I’m in The Edge of Dreams, Molly Murphy’s latest by Rhys Bowen.

    Read The Collector’s Society by Heather Lyons and the sequel The Hidden Library. Quite a take on classic fairy tales. But they both are a ton of fun and I highly recommend them. Can’t wait for the third book to come out. So jealous about the Veronica Speedwell ARC!

    Cat Gardiner’s Lucky 13, a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. It was very unique, with an uber fab Darcy. Liz was also likeable. I thought the Author did a great job with using the familiar supporting characters in updated and slightly different ways. There was also a character blog incorporated into the story. This was outside my typical read, and there was much that I enjoyed.

    Count me among those who are thoroughly enjoying the Pink re-read at The Bubble Bath Reader!

    I get my best book recommendations here! I am glad to see that at least everything on Lauren’s TBR pile is already on mine. My reading rate has gone way down lately due to a couple of situations and my book adding rate has gone way up!

    Enjoying rereading all the Pink books and following The Bubble Bath Reader as well. Really enjoyed Tamara Leigh’s Age of Faith series – first book free on kindle download on amazon. I agree that I love getting book recommendations on here 🙂

    Coincidently Mademoiselle Chanel too and Alyson Richman’s The Lost Wife. Definetly must-reads!
