Having been out for a while, Pink I has all sorts of add-ons: there are the Pink Carnation comics, designed in celebration of Pink’s 5th anniversary back in 2010, foreign editions in ten languages, and even a special sequel, the Christmas novella, Ivy & Intrigue.
Along the way, The Secret History of the Pink Carnation has had three separate covers (not counting all the foreign covers): the chick lit version that never went to press, the fine art version that you’ll see on the hardcover and trade paperback, and a more playful photo cover for the mass market.
My favorite scene? The scene where Miss Gwen goes after Bonaparte is a close second, but my favorite scene to write was what I think of as “the mob scene”: when the intrepid Purple Gentian’s extended family– and best friend– all descend on him in his Paris town house. And give him a very hard time.
What’s your favorite scene from The Secret History of the Pink Carnation?
I LOVE the mob scene! But after reflecting, I think my favorite is the scene when Amy realizes Richard is the Purple Gentian and the reactions of Jane and Miss Gwen.
I have a soft spot for the crossing of the Channel… and the trip on the Seine. And the hot cocoa in the kitchen (or is that in Black Tulip?)…
In short, I love everything in this book! 🙂
I love the mob scene. And Miss Gwen vs. Bonaparte. But, I have to agree with Karen, I think my favorite scene is when Amy figures out that Richard is the Gentian. Mostly because of Miss Gwen and Jane’s reactions.
I loved the Mob scene,too! I really enjoyed the scenes when Amy and Lady Uppington rescue Richard. I think they enjoyed their disguises.

I loved the “mob” scene best, also. The Selwicks, particularly Richard’s Mama, were just a delight!
I think my favorite is the rescue scene in the interrogation chamber, but I have a sneaking fondness for all of the scenes with Jane’s parents … wandering vaguely around and talking about sheep.
The fight scene where the Turnip tries with utter futility to help his friends out and makes a bigger mess of things….all the while carrying on the “dashed this” and “dashed that” dialogue.
I seriously love the scene where Amy and Lady Uppington. Lady Uppington rocks. I think it would be great to have some more history of Lord and Lady Uppington. I have gone back to read Pink again. This book was the start of something wonderful-thanks, Lauren.
I love the scene when they discover each other while searching the study. It really shows both their characters well. But reading all the other scenes posted reminded me of how great those other scenes are too!
I love the channel crossing also, as well as the scene in the study.
I think I need to do some rereading after all of these reminiscences.
I think my favorite scene was when Richard a.k.a The Purple Gentian was searching for “bruises” on Amy. That part made my cheeks a tee bit warm and a little more pink than usual.
