Thursday Give Away
We have a special treat for Thursday give away today: a copy of Tracy Grant’s upcoming novel, The Paris Affair!
Here’s the official blurb:
From the ashes of war rise the secrets of its darkest hearts. . . .
In the wake of the Battle of Waterloo, Paris is a house divided. The triumphant Bourbons flaunt their victory with lavish parties, while Bonapartists seek revenge only to be captured and executed. Amid the turmoil, British attaché and intelligence agent Malcolm Rannoch and his wife, Suzanne, discover that his murdered half sister, Princess Tatiana Kirsanova, may have borne a child—a secret she took to the grave. And Malcolm suspects there was more than mere impropriety behind her silence. . . .
As Malcolm and Suzanne begin searching for answers, they learn that the child was just one of many secrets Tatiana had been keeping. The princess was the toast of Paris when she arrived in the glamorous city, flirting her way into the arms of more than a few men—perhaps even those of Napoleon himself—and the father must be among them. But in the mêlée of the Napoleonic Wars, she was caught up in a deadly game of court intrigue, and now Malcolm and Suzanne must race against time to save his sister’s child from a similar fate. . . .
I had the chance to read an advance copy of this back in the spring, and it has all of the espionage, drama and historical detail one has come to expect from a Tracy Grant novel– whether the hero and heroine are named Malcolm and Suzanne or Charles and Melanie. Although this is part of an ongoing series (don’t miss the earlier books!), it works quite well as a stand alone, too.
So, for a chance to win a copy of The Paris Affair, here’s your question:
Who are your favorite husband and wife spy team?
The winner will be announced on Sunday. The Paris Affair hits the shelves on March 26th. To find out more about The Paris Affair and the other Malcolm and Suzanne books, just visit Tracy’s website.
Lady Emily and Colin Hargreaves
From the lady Emily series by Tasha Alexander
Not to be a total suck up, but Richard and Amy!
Either Lady Emily and Colin from Tasha Alexander’s book or Brisbane and Lady Julia from Deanna Raybourn’s books. I can’t decide!
Percy Blakeney and Marguerite! And all of the Pink Carnation couples (I am not able to choose a favourite! I love them all!), even though they aren’t married until after spying has commenced.
I’m going to go way off the reservation and say Elizabeth and Phillip from The Americans. They’re definitely intriguing and I want to know what happens to them.
I have to say Elizabeth and Phillip from “The Americans” have caught my attention too, even though they are spying for the wrong side! Maybe that’s what makes them interesting!
I assume we’re not allowed to say Charles and Melanie?? And Lord Peter and Harriet aren’t really spies (and neither are my other favourites Lady Emily and Colin Hargreaves)… So it will have to be between the various Pink Carnation couples, and I can’t choose.
I am making an autocratic, executive decision: mystery-solving couples count, too.
I feel much better seeing this comment AFTER I posted my entry!! 🙂
I would have to say Lady Emily and Colin Hargreaves as well. Mostly because picking a Pink Carnation couple is just too difficult.
Another vote for Julia and Brisbane 🙂 My favorite is “Silent in the Sanctuary,” even though they aren’t married yet in that one.
Spy: Hen and Miles, because of the adorable factor
Mystery Solving: Lord Peter & Harriet!
My inner 10 year old (that read them all in order) cannot let me leave without saying Nancy Drew & Ned Nickerson when he comes in to help. 🙂
I would also have to say Lady Emily and Colin Hargreaves. 🙂
Emily + Collin from Tasha Alexander’s series <3
Well, it’s so hard to pick just one couple! I love all the Pink carnation couples, I love Malcolm and Suzanne Rannoch, I love Percy and Marguerite Blackeney… Nancy Drew and Ned…
(but I know one thing for sure: I’m gonna read the Paris Affair the very day of its release!)
I love all the Pink carnation couple spies but the couple I adore above all others would have to be Henrietta and Miles!
Just popping in to thank readers for entering. Hope you enjoy Malcolm & Suzanne s Parisian adventures whether you are new to the series or have been following it back to the days when the characters were name Charles & Mélanie…
Miles and Henriette – just too cute and a bit bumbly
Wessex and Sarah from Shadow of Albion. I reread it every few years.
There was a short-lived tv series a few years back – Undercovers. They were such a dynamic team! I think they’d be my favourite! 🙂
Thanks!
Lord Peter and Harriet Vane for me!
Also Nick and Nora Charles, and Tommy and Tuppence Beresford, although as you can see I’m solidly in the mystery-solving couples camp. I would say Vicky Bliss and John Smythe as well, but I don’t know if it counts when they are mostly at odds.
I love Nick and Nora!! Ooh my dear lizards, yes!!
Henrietta and Miles, although, Geoff and Letty are a close second.
There are some good ones to choose from, but I think I would go with Charles & Melane, or Malcolm and Suzanne as they are now know.
Would Turnip and Arabella count as spies? They were a fun pair!
Miles & Henrietta
Emerson & Peabody – Elizabeth Peters
I really love Kate Noble’s The Blue Raven series! Particularly Byrne and Lady Jane Cummings from “The Summer of You.”
The various Pinks, for sure! Otherwise, spying – Richard and Frances Myles in Helen Macinnes’s Above Suspicion. Detectives – Nick and Nora Charles tied with Pam and Gerry North. I’m an old fashioned girl!
For me, it is a real toss up between Malcolm and Suzanne Rannoch, Henrietta and Miles, and, since mystery-solving couples are included, Amelia and Emerson Peabody. Love them all and I can’t choose!
I am crazy…my toddler was yelling…I meant Amelia and Emerson, not Amelia and Emerson Peabody 🙂
Of course I love all our Pink Carnation series couples…and Brisbane and Lady Julia!
Mystery-solving couple: ditto from me for Emerson and Peaboy (not to mention Ramses and Nefret)
How about real life spies? I’d nominate Julia and Paul Child!
It would be a toss up between Geoff and Letty and Brisbane and Lady Julia.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
They blow stuff up and who has not wanted to do that.;)
Sophia and adrian Smythe from Lord and Lady Spy by Shana Galen
I can’t make a decision: it’s a tie between Emerson and Peabody, and Brisbane and Lady Julia. Both couples are highly addictive to this reader!
Not really spies, but they solve crime, so Amelia Peabody and Emerson… if real spies, Mr and Mrs Smith…
Geoff and Letty from Emerald Ring!
(although I’ve just started the Lady Emily series and I do like the progression of Emily and Colin)
Tommy and Tuppence Beresford who were spy husband and wife by Agatha Christie. The first book is the Secret Adversary>
Technically not married so I guess don’t count but the first I thought of was Michael and Fiona from Burn Notice are my very favorite.
Miles and Henrietta.
When I think spies it’s a tie between Charles and Melanie (I still can’t think of them as Malcom and Suzanne) and Henriettia and Miles
When I think mystery solving couple, it’s another tie between Lady Emily and Colin and Lady Julia and Brisbane
Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes
then Charles and Melanie
oo, also Lady Julia Gray and Nicholas Brisbane
Great minds, think alike! I did not see this entry when I posted mine!
Charles and Melanie
Amelia Peabody and Emerson
Mary and Vaughn, of course.
Amelia and Emerson from Elizabeth Peters’ Amelia Peabody series, of course!
Melanie and Charles. 🙂
Very hard to pick, but I have to go with a Pink couple – Mary and Vaughn!
I know they’re not really spies, but I must say Lady Julia and Brisbane.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
I love Malcolm and Suzanne as well as Geoff and Letty.
Geoff and Letty. For me the Pink Carnation series’ sexiest couple.
Brisbane and Julia from Deanna Raybourn’s series
I was always a Hart to Hart fan as a child… Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers were always so glamourous!
Leaping Lizards! I didn’t know we could say a couple from a tv series! Ooh my, I would have put Mr. and Mrs. H down for sure!! They’re the best!!
After the pink options, (of course!) Lady Georgie and Darcy O’Mara, from the Her Royal Spyness series. They crack me up!
This is hard and in no special order, all of the Pink series, I was going to name favorites but the list started including everyone, Amelia and Emerson, longest series I have ever read (I started back in the 70’s), Brisbane and Julia, Charles and Melanie, Lady Emily and Colin and one new one to this list the Andrea Penrose series – Lady Arianna Hadley and her husband, the Earl of Saybrook. And Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes. Glad to see they made the list too.
I am also torn — there are so many!
I really enjoy this series — although the name changes were weird (but I get why she had to do it) — so Charles/Malcolm and Melanie/Suzanne are on my short list.
So are Miles and Henrietta, Lady Julia and Brisbane, Lady Emily and Colin, and Adelia and Rowley from Ariana Franklin’s Mistress of the Art of Death books. So sad that there won’t be any more of them.
I would have to say Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Letty Alsworthy and Geoff Pinchingdale-Snipe are first; Nora and Nick Charles second; Thomas and Charlotte Pitt of the series by Anne Perry third, and Brad Galt and Kathleen from Jay Dratler’s “The Dark Corner” in fourth.
Lady Julia and Nicholas Brisbane and Peter Whimsey and Harriet Vane
Sir Percy Blakeney and Marguerite St. Just!
Everybody is listing good ones! I’ll just add India Black and French to the mix.
OOh my dear… I am not sure whom to pick, as I saw someone already gave a nod to Tasha Alexander’s Lady Emily… 🙂 However, I’d like to say *Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes* by Laurie R. King! I am not certain if they completely qualify for ‘spy couples’ but most of what they do to solve mysteries does involve techniques that I think spies would appreciate!
I hope this counts as an entry!! I’d be overjoyed to receive this book, as I haven’t come across this author before! Ms. Willig you always ignite such joy for those of us who read your blog, as you always give us such wonderful recommendations! And, you are always so generous to give us a bookaway!
