I’ve always liked those “if you like…” posts on other websites. So, starting now, we have a new feature. Every week, I’ll kick us off with a different “if you like” and everyone can chime in with suggestions.
For our very first “If You Like…”, if you like Turnip Fitzhugh, you’ll probably like….
– P.G. Wodehouse’s Jeeves & Wooster novels (check out the BBC version with Hugh Laurie!)
– Loretta Chase’s Mr. Impossible
Any other suggestions?
AMENDED TO ADD: Breaking news! As of this Monday, the “If You Like” segment will be combined with Mistletoe Mondays– so look for a new “If You Like” and a chance to win a Mistletoe magnet calendar on Monday.
Also, huzzah for the Connie Brockway recommendations! I wish I’d thought of that. And that I could remember where I left my copy of My Dearest Enemy….

I don’t have any suggestions just yet (will have to think about it more), but as Monday is Mistletoe Monday, Tuesday is Teaser Tuesday, Wednesday (but more like Thursday) is Mistletoe Monday winner day, and Friday is Reading Round-up… it seems like you’re all booked up during the week. I’m always so impressed by how active you are here on your website. Thank you for being so willing to entertain us all while we wait for each new Pink book to come out!

Very good idea here…..it satisfies my overpowering urge to communicate. If you like Reginald Fitzhugh, AKA the “Turnip,” you will love the rollicking humor of Evelina by Frances Burney. You will probably enjoy ANYTHING by the incomparable Georgette Heyer too! I’ve read about 15 of her offerings and have found nary a dud in the bunch. Thanks for personally responding to my gushing E-mails; it is a sure-fire way to expand your fan base by letting us sing your praises for you.

If you like Turnip, you might like The Lord Peter Winsey mysteries by Dorothy Sayers. One could make the argument that they are opposites in regards to intelligence, but their personalities, IMO, seem similar.

If you like Turnip, you’ll love Dr. Fielding from “Flying Too High,” the second of the 1920s Australia-set mysteries starring that ultra-cool daredevil flapper, the Hon. Phryne Fisher. He’s not a main character, but he has the same endearing way with furniture that Turnip has.

How about Schmidt from Elizabeth Peters’ Vicky Bliss series? Well meaning, kindhearted but somehow his schemes never seem to work out as planned. And if you like the Amelia Peabody books, but haven’t read Laughter of Dead Kings yet, do so ASAP – Peters ties them together in the most wonderful way!

I love the idea of “If You Like” — am always on the lookout for new authors and titles.
For those of you whose libraries subscribe to NoveList, it provides read-a-like suggestions for both authors and titles — most of the time, the suggestions are on target.

what about Eliz.Peters’ Ghost In Green Velvet….The first romantic suspense novel I read that made me howl with laughter !

Oooh, I thought of another one! The male lead in “Thoroughly Modern Millie”– the one who winds up with Millie, not the square-jawed one. I can so see Turnip dancing the Tapioca.
