Weekly Reading Round-Up
If I were to provide the list of books I’ve been reading this week, it would tell you a little too much about the project I’m currently working on– and I prefer to remain mysterious about that for the moment.
So, instead, I’ll go straight to the main question: what have you been reading?
I loved “Poser: My Life in 23 Yoga Poses” by Claire Dederer. Some of the reviewers panned it for “not being about yoga,” but it’s not supposed to be solely about yoga. I also started reading “Vienna Waltz” by Teresa (Tracy) Grant and I love it so far.
My normal forte’ is historical romance/drama/suspense, so when I stumbled across authors: Katharine McMahon and Tasha Alexander, I was happy to find 2 more great writers who I will now include in my must haves!
I started The Keep by Jennifer Egan. It’s not my usual cup of tea but so far it’s pretty interesting.
I just started “The Bucolic Plague: How Two Manhattanites Became Gentlemen Farmers”
So far it’s pretty good.
Keys to the Castle by Donna Ball. I’m enjoying it greatly.
I’m in the middle of Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner and I’m supposed to be reading The French Lieutenant’s Woman by Fowles but I haven’t started yet…
At Home by Bill Bryson is brilliant and I’ve been reading that for a long time.
An ARC of Elizabeth I by Margaret George (so far magnificent!).
Zemindar by Valerie Fitzgerald (sweeping love story set in 19th century India – fabulous!
It Began in Vauxhall Gardens by Jean Plaidy (a fictionalized account of a notorious 19th century English scandal).
I’ve been re-reading Gone With the Wind by M. Mitchell. Even though it’s long, it’s always worth a read!
I felt it was time for a little more Amelia Peabody, so I finished The Deeds of the Disturber and started The Last Camel Died at Noon. In between making cookies for my friend’s 30th. So a good few days here!
I am reading The Spymaster’s Lady. Its good so far…

I’ve just finished the second and third books in Gail Carriger’s Soulless series, as well as the first three of Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next books, all of which I enjoyed. I’m starting on Elizabeth Kostova’s The Historian, which comes to me highly recommended.
Charity Girl by Georgette Heyer. So far it is really cute
I’m in re-read mode as the Nook died a horrible death recently. 🙁 Finished Crimson and started Jasmine.

Just finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night by Mark Haddon and have begun Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (4th time reading it). Both are book club reads for the month. We added Jane so we can have a book club movie night when the movie comes out next month. So excited!
I recently read ‘A Discovery of Witches’ by Deborah Harkness which was fantastic! I just started ‘Left Neglected’ by Lisa Genova which is so far very good!
This week I have been reading….Breaking the rules by Suzanne Brockmann, A test of wills by Charles Todd, The Paris wife by Paula McLain, What happens in London by Julia Quinn, and The guns of August by Barbara W. Tuchman. The Charles Todd book is my first by this writing duo and I have been greatly enjoying it.
I just finished ‘Fools Crow’ by James Welch and ‘My Wicked Marquess’ by Gaelen Foley.
I’ve just began to read ‘Castle of the Wolf’ by Sandra Schwab.
Murphy’s Law, by Rhys Bowen. Love Her Royal Spyness, and this series is shaping up very nicely too.

I just finished reading Rival to the Queen by Carrolly Erickson and started Christi Phillip’s The Devlin Diary.I have been looking forward to this one after reading The Rosetti Letter and I am super excited about it!
