Happy Halloween! (And Give-Away)

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. When else does one have the license to dress up in historical costume, overindulge in pumpkin-based foods, and tell ghost stories?

Also, it’s kind of fun imagining what various Pink characters might dress up as… rather like that masquerade ball in Black Tulip.

Vaughn’s masquerade was one of Turnip’s earlier appearances in the Pink Carnation series (well before his star turn in Mistletoe!).

I’ll give away one Mistletoe ornament to the first person who can tell me what Turnip’s costume was for Vaughn’s masquerade….

What will you be for Halloween this year?

Boston!

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

Huge thanks to all who came out to the Mistletoe launch in Boston! And to the folks at Borders for setting up such lovely displays.

One of the best things about the event? Getting to sign a Kindle.

Oh, and I have a big mea culpa for those of you who came out to the reading. In the depths of my frazzlement, I hauled ten Mistletoe ornaments with me to Boston, but forgot to take them out of my bag. If you were at the Boston signing and would like your ornament, email me and let me know! First come, first serve.

Happy MISTLETOE Day!

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

‘Tis the release day for… The Mischief of the Mistletoe!

Who says it’s too early to get in the holiday spirit?

MISTLETOE in Boston!

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

I’ll be celebrating the launch of The Mischief of the Mistletoe tomorrow in Boston, the city where it all began. If you’re in the neighborhood, please drop by and say hi!

I’ll be at the Borders in School Street from 1:00 to 3:00, with a large pile of Mistletoe, a bright red pen, and (shhhh, this bit was meant to be a surprise!) some ornaments to give away….

Cast that Turnip! (A New Mini-Contest)

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

Only one day until Mistletoe!!!!!

In the meantime, I still have a number of shiny Mischief of the Mistletoe ornaments just waiting to find good homes. As the holiday season approaches, Joanne Renaud (who illustrated the Pink comics) and I have been kicking around the idea of creating a special illustration of Turnip for all those Turnipsians out there.

So here’s my challenge for you:

— If you had to pick one actor to use as model for Turnip, who would it be?

To give people time to read Mistletoe before making their choices, the contest will remain open through Tuesday night. Ten winners, chosen at random, will be announced on Wednesday morning.

Happy casting!

Mistletoe Ornament Winners!

Monday, October 25th, 2010

With only two days to go until the release of The Mischief of the Mistletoe….

The Pink Carnation inboxes were so much fun that I wish I could give away an ornament to everyone who entered!

However, since my stash is limited (and we have more contests yet to come), here are our five winners, chosen completely at random:

— Becky (of Comment #10)
— Kristie (of Comment #27)
— Jessica C (of Comment #8)
— Linda R (of Comment #6)
— Anne K (of Comment #23)

Congrats, all! If the winners will email me with their snail mail addresses, the ornaments will wend their ways to their new owners. In the meantime, check back for a new contest tomorrow….

Which was your favorite inbox?

Another Testimonial for Turnip

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

As part of a Pink Carnation review round-up, Superwench83 of Debuts & Reviews writes:

The Mischief of the Mistletoe is just so much fun! It may well occupy my second-favorite-in-the-series slot…which is funny, because I was one of the few Pink Carnation fans who was skeptical about a novel featuring the handsome but bumbling Turnip Fitzhugh. Throughout the series, Turnip has always cracked me up with his strange and unwittingly hilarious comments and manners of speech, but Turnip as a romantic hero? Well. Shows how much I know.

Turnip: popularizing vegetables since 1803.

As we beguile away the last few days until the release of The Mischief of the Mistletoe (coming out on Thursday!), there’s still time to enter the contest for a Mistletoe ornament!

The rules? Come up with an inbox for a Pink Carnation character.

The contest and the current entries can be found here. Even if you’re not feeling creative, stop on by to read the others…. They would surprise a laugh out of even the Dowager Duchess of Dovedale!
