With only one week to go until Pink mass market (eek!), here’s Big Surprise #2. I’ve been having the hardest time staying quiet about this one for the past few months!
In honor of the re-release of The Secret History of the Pink Carnation, I’ve teamed up with illustrator extraordinaire, Joanne Renaud, to render a few of the Purple Gentian’s adventures from prose to picture.
There are three scenes in all: one featuring Eloise (above) and two starring Richard and Amy, including a truly spectacular visual of the scene at the Tuileries Palace where Miss Gwen tells off Bonaparte. (You can click on the images to see a larger version.)

This is amazing! Do you think you’ll go as far as to turn the entire Pink I into a graphic novel (as many books have been doing lately)? Because that would be incredible!

I wouldn’t rule out turning Pink I into a graphic novel, but what I’d really love to do is a whole, new, extra, original Pink story in graphic form– one of the Pink Carnation’s adventures that doesn’t quite fit into novel form. We’ll see….

That was a great idea. Funny comment above about Eloise. I think I pictured Colin’s sister a little more gaunt. You know from her break up…maybe more pasty (no color). Funny how our own little preconceived ideas can march in without us even realizing it until we see something like this.

A new Pink in graphic form would certainly get my interest. I’m of the generation who would first read the Classic Comics version to decide if we wanted to read the “Real Thing” What fun to really see Turnip, Vaughan , etc, in a new adventure .

A Pink graphic novel would be great!! I always enjoy seeing an artist’s rendition of my favorite books! And the Pink series would be an excellent adaptation, in my opinion!

Ooh, an original Pink story! That’s a great idea. Hope it will come to fruition.
Also, I now have an urge to see the comic book Turnip. You could have so much fun designing those waistcoats!

As soon as I read the word comic I was like “Lauren you know me so well!”
Seriously. I totally envisioned Eloise wearing that outfit (except the boots were shorter) and Serena looks adorable. Although Collin could have had more hair but hey, Richard looked super hot! And loved Amy’s impish features.
A graphic novel should totally be called for! It’d be so great to have them drawn for eahc book. Just saying.
