An ORCHID for Saturday

The cover contest bounty continues! We have nearly fifty entries, each as lovely as the last. I’ll be displaying them all on August 2nd, once the contest officially closes, but, in the meantime, here’s our cover of the day.

Light and floral, this seemed particularly appropriate for a sunny Saturday.

Absolutely beautiful. One of my favourites so far, love the angle of the head, very meek and modest

Lovely! It reminds me of the new Sourcebooks Georgette Heyer covers, and is a good use of what I assume is a period painting.

I like this sort of thing because the costume details are correct. It doesn’t (like so many current covers do) look like a simplified period costume made out of a polyester-blend, with the wrong underwear underneath (or no underwear at all), and dyed a color that might not have even been possible (let alone fashionable) at the time.

Such a lovely scene of domestic tranquility.
