Happy Mother's Day!

We always hear about the wicked stepmothers… but what about their positive counterparts? While we’re all celebrating the wonderful mothers in our lives (hi, Mom!), there was an excellent piece in Dear Author today about the good mothers of romance fiction. When you think of it, there are quite a few. Who are your favorite fictional moms?

    Mrs Dashwood (S&S)
Marilla Cuthbert(Anne of Green Gables; more ike a mother-figure)
    Lady Honoria Percy Selwick (obvious!)
    Lady Hamley (Wives and Daughters)

LOVE these women; i read the books as much for them as for the main plot 🙂

I think Amelia Peabody was a good mother, although she was rather unorthodox and mothering was not exactly her priority.

Ditto to Marilla Cuthbert and Mrs. Weasley.

The first Mom that came to mind was Marmee in Little Women. She was brave and courageous in the face of adversity.
