I just wanted to pop in from gingerbread baking (we will ignore the fact that I may have absentmindedly put in an extra cup of flour while thinking about something else– oops) to wish everyone an absolutely splendid holiday. I hope all of your planes and trains arrive on time and your stockings contain candy rather than coal.

Ooh, thanks for the re-gifted story! I must have missed it last year. I really enjoyed it, and it was even helpful, in a way. I got SO annoyed at Richard for being an obnoxious and tyrannical older brother in Black Tulip that it kind of ruined Pink Carnation for me (Because I love Miles & Hen - and after all the stuff he gets up to with Amy in Parisian ferries and then being married by a buccaneering butler - he has the nerve to be THAT furious with Miles for making out with Hen in the garden? Yes, I know she’s his sister, but come on).
And it seemed like we never really got much closure on that, since the series moved on to other characters and we only catch glimpses of Richard and Amy and Miles and Hen. So this novella actually greatly improved my opinion of Richard, since we got to see him coming to terms with things (or coming to his senses, perhaps) and patching things up with Miles, which made me happy. Now I can enjoy Pink Carnation again, without having to mutter “You hypocrite!” at Richard every so often!

Happy holidays! Luckly I got to stay home this year and not face the terrible wind and rain. I prefer rain over snow anyday.
