Weekly Reading Round-Up
I’ve been deep in Pink VII, so this will be a somewhat scanter list than usual. Here’s what I’ve read this week:
– To Beguile a Beast, Elizabeth Hoyt
This is the third book in her Four Soldiers series, but, having skipped the second, I can attest that it works just as well out of order. Wounded hero, gloomy castle, adorable small children, and George III. Two thumbs up!
– Just One of the Guys, Kristan Higgins
I don’t read much contemporary romance, but I discovered Higgins’ books last winter (based on discussions on Smart Bitches and AAR) and immediately blazed through all four. Last January was the Month of Higgins for me. This was the first I’d read, and the prose was just as good as I remembered.
– Stitches in Time, Barbara Michaels
Not exactly your conventional holiday read, considering that it involves possession, witchcraft, and haunted household items, but since it’s set during Christmas, Stitches in Time has become a traditional seasonal read for me, along with Judith McNaught’s Paradise, Alcott’s Little Women, and Elsie Lee’s Silence is Golden. What can I say? I have eclectic tastes.
Next up for me is my friend Darci Hannah’s debut novel, The Exile of Sara Stevenson. It’s not out until July, but my advance copy arrived yesterday (there are benefits to knowing the author!). I’ve promised myself I can read it as soon as I finish writing Chapter Thirteen, so you’ll probably be hearing about it here next week.
What have you been reading?
