“Hometown Appetites: The Story of Clementine Paddleford, the Forgotten Food Writer Who Chronicled how America Ate” by Kelly Alexander and Cynthia Harris
A mouthful to say, yes. Very fascinating. Who knew that America actually had a food culture?

Just finished “The Unexpected Bride” by Elizabeth Rolls – lovely. Also just completed the ‘Desperate Duchesses’ series by Eloisa James which were all excellent. (Especially loved the last book, “This Duchess of Mine.”) Now just starting another Elizabeth Rolls book, “A Compromised Lady.”

Second Glance by Jodi Picoult. It is my favorite of hers. Its got ghosts, lost love, new love, murder, flash backs, rare diseases, and tons of other stuff. Plus like twelve different characters to follow, but if you can keep up with them, it is a great book to read.

Prada and Prejudice, which turned out to be not so good (if you land your character in 1815 with a handsome duke who kisses her, you DO NOT bring her back to the present!), and Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, which was quite enjoyable.

I love Betsy-Tacy. Have you read the three side novels? (Books featuring side characters from the ten Betsy books.)

The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson has been suggested to me, but I haven’t had time to pick it up. I was planning on it, though…It sounds really, really good.

I have been getting through “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” and “Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters”. They are a bit ridiculous, but kind of fun. After I finish these I plan on finally finishing “Bleak House”.

Miss Eliza- Kostova has a new one?!?!? oh I’m so excitied now…
I finished “A Match for Mary Bennet” by Eucharista Ward. It was lovely. It made me like Mary more not only from this book, but also as she is in P&P. I understand her more, and she’s delusional but lovely.

Yeah, Kostova’s new book comes out in January…sad to say, I’m really not liking it, the characters are unlikable in the extreme and not an an interesting so you can get past the unlikable…

I’m reading The Condition by Jennifer Haigh- not really a period piece but I’m loving the family drama. I’d highly recommend it even though the writing style takes a little getting used to!

I just blew thru the complete Megan McCafferty Jess Darling series, loved it. I also read Moonlight in Odessa by Janet Skeslien Charles, very nice. And just completed the new Diana Gabaldon Echo in the Bone. Never heard of the Betsy/Tacy so going to look them up.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s almost creepy how this book just speaks to me and my recent life path. I know that probably sounds corny, but it’s… serendipitous really.
