Historical Novel Society

Hi, all! I’m back from Illinois and the HNS and I just wanted to say a great big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to see me on Saturday. Jenna and Kayse, you two are the best. Hugs also go to Kristin, Tina, Sara and Laura for trekking all the way out to Schaumberg. It was such fun to discuss Pink past, present, and future with you all.

This was my first Historical Novel Society Conference, and I had the groupie-ish experience of meeting several authors whose works I’ve read and loved, including Susan Holloway Scott, who writes Restoration-set novels that make me want to move into Charles II’s Whitehall on the spot, Laurel Corona, Kathy Lynn Emerson, Margaret Frazer, and Michelle Moran.

That’s me with Michelle Moran, whose books I can’t recommend too highly (The Heretic Queen reminded me at times both of Desiree and The Blue Sword, rather a feat), and Christine Trent, whose first book, The Queen’s Dollmaker, comes out next year (and who also has one of the most gorgeous websites I’ve seen yet).

Next up– the RWA conference in DC in July!

  2. Please do let us know when the book signing in DC is going to be. My roommate is sick of hearing me talk about how excitied I am for it. :)

  3. Lauren, so glad you had a good trip to IL–I’m looking forward to seeing you in D.C.!!

BTW, I was thinking of you this week. I’m hosting an AustenFest on my blog right now and one of the guest authors is Syrie James, for whom you’d written a lovely review… I couldn’t help but quote it when I put up her interview Monday. :)
