Pink VI has a Title!!

And the title of the sixth Pink book will be….

The Betrayal of the Blood Lily!

Henceforth, Pink VI shall no longer be merely a number among Pinks, but a titled book among books.

As you know, choosing this particular title was a long, hard haul. I would like to thank everyone who participated. Your innovative and insightful flower suggestions enlivened many a dull afternoon and sparked more than one debate during the title choice process.

It was a close-run thing– for a while, the orchids almost had it– but in the end, everyone agreed that Blood Lily suited Penelope down to a tee with its combination of violence and vulnerability. Blood red and lily white seemed like a good combo for our fiery-haired, fair-skinned heroine.

Kudos (and advance copies) go to Brie Porter and Jennifer Klouse for coming up with the Blood Lily and to Pamela for providing the noun “betrayal”, which goes so very nicely with Blood Lily. We don’t have ARCs quite yet (the manuscript is still in the copy-editing stage) but once we do, they’re yours!

Next up, the cover!

  4. I am so exicited!! An offical title makes it seem much more real than “Pink VI” did. Now I must continue to wait- something I’m not good at, but I’m learning.

  13. THAT. IS. COOL.

It’s so thrilling and - horrid! like a horrid novel, haha - and imaginative! I mean if I were a guy I would be totally like THAT’S EPIC. lol

  14. Lauren: I would love to hear summaries on the debates for the title, if you get a chance. I’m just curious, too, will you be making revisions to the book to make references to Pen as a blood lily now to tie it all in?

Just like knowing the whole thought process. It’s cool.

    And congrats to the winners!

  15. Not title related, but Lauren, I just finished watching the Anthony Andrews Scarlet Pimpernel film for the first time and it is love at first sight! Sink me if I didn’t come ovah all swooney. I kept trying to spot Richard in the background though…

  16. Oh I’m so excited! I finally got to pick up Night Jasmine off the bookshelf and oh I’m in love. I gobbled it up in an afternoon and now I’m re-reading the others. I await the next one as patiently as I possibly can!

  17. Okay Am I the only who really doesn’t like the title?
It sounds way too intense like the book is going to be realy, really, really dark. I don’t quite get it as purity/nonpurity.
Lilies have associations with Easter, hence rebirth, renewal hence also crucifixion, blood, etc.
Anyway I still can;t wait for pink six. I also admit its better most of my titles.
I didn’t betrayal either from the reading, but I guess I will have to wait to read more.

  19. oh just sorry I accidently posted it twice Lauren or whoever feel free to delete one duplicate

    by am7 on May 7th, 2009 at 12:01 am

  20. I’ve done that, too– especially when my browser is slow and I keep jabbing buttons. I once sent the same email to someone five times. I felt very sheepish.

by Lauren on May 7th, 2009 at 12:03 am

  21. it was not my favorite either, i was thinking something less dramatic. Blood i think is just to harsh. But its not our choice and i am sure the book will be amazing. So either way.. i don’t know maybe this book is darker than the others…

  22. We LOVE it!!!! Cannot wait for the new book. We are soooo addicted!

by Tara and Shelley Johnson on May 7th, 2009 at 8:26 pm

  23. Personally, I didn’t like the idea of a flower for Pen at all. She’s not a spy, which is where all of the other flowers came from. And, there is nothing flowery (maybe de-flowery-ha!) about Pen that we know of so far.

But, who am I to judge? I’m a computer geek who loves football. What do I know about flowers or writing romance novels? That’s Lauren’s gig and I give her my support 100%.

  24. Love the new title -good choice. Can’t wait for the book.

  25. I just finished “Night Jasmine” today!! It was amazing, I finished it in 3 days. But I want to hear more from Letty and Geoff. You mentioned Vaughn and Mary, but not them. What are they up to?
I can’t wait to hear what adventures Penelope will be having in India!!! I hope Robert and Charlotte make at least a cameo. I’d like to hear more about Robert’s past.

  26. LOVE IT. I am so excited now. And we still have to wait until January…*sigh* I don’t want to be whiny…but can we have more teasers? A cover soon maybe? :)

  27. Are we going to be treated to a new novella this Christmas, like last year? Maybe about Hen and Miles?

by Jessica on May 11th, 2009 at 12:30 pm

  28. Hi, Jessica! I DO have an idea for a Hen and Miles story I want to write… but I’m making no promises because it’s all dependent on how long it takes me to get Pink VII done. But if I can get my act together in time, yes!

by Lauren on May 11th, 2009 at 12:34 pm

  29. Oh yea. i have been wanting to hear what they have been up to. Oh that is fun, i do hope you get the time.

by Stephanie Stoddard on May 11th, 2009 at 12:46 pm

  30. I feel like the lily wasnt a good flower for Pen. I thought something more exotic would have been better for her. the lily is way to over done. but i can not wait to read it. i loved the first chapter and really want to know what happens. i really hope you do another novella. i loved the last one, it was great.

by Julie on May 11th, 2009 at 5:43 pm

  31. YAY! A title! That makes me so happy! These really are such fantastic addicting books! Keep it up!

  34. I know I’m a bit behind, but I’ve been out of town for a while.

But I am just so excited about this next, now titled, book! Am I the only one who gets a jittery stomach whenever I log onto this page?!?!

Congrats to Brie and Jennifer, by the way.

  35. Oh my gosh! Hahaha I guess I’m the last one to find out, but I’m so excited you picked my flower! I’m so excited, I cannot WAIT to read the new book. I was reading thru the post and nearly peed my pants when I saw! Thanks so much to you Lauren, for giving everyone these delicious books to look forward to. You’ve definitely added some much appreciated romance and mystery to my life!
