More Free Books!

All About Romance is offering a grab bag of my books to anyone who can correctly answer a Pink Carnation trivia question over on their After Hours blog. Two grab bags, really. One winner will receive audio copies of Black Tulip and Emerald Ring, while the other gets signed copies of Pink Carnation, Crimson Rose and Night Jasmine.

Elsewhere on the web, I blogged about the nature of series on Access Romance. No give-aways on this one, I’m afraid, but I would be very interested in hearing your opinion on what makes a series– and what breaks a series.

  1. I would have to agree with what many people have said already with constancy of character (as in Miles and Henrietta stop bickering and become all love sick, gooey, mushy on us- they don’t! yay! they still bicker!) and remembering the details. I know you are probably a meticulous author with time lines and character bios just for writing and such as some of my other authors, but some just mess with their own time line, or in consecutive books their characters change drastically. While in Charlotte’s book we got to see more the friend side of Henrietta and another side to Penelope my initial thoughts of them were not altered, only added too.

I also adore when one book flows into another, almost as if the author introduces the next book in the first book or a conflict in the first book is finally resolved in the second book, as in the transition from the Emerald Ring and Crimson Rose when Mary’s dilemma is stated and then solved in another book.

I have to say though that I find myself missing some of the older characters. I wouldn’t mind seeing some of the other characters getting more time in later books. I have grown to love all of your characters and find myself re-reading books to catch back up with them. I desperately miss Amy and Richard since their time together didn’t seem like much. The Christmas Novella helped a lot- I missed them and they are both so fiery and fun.

  2. It IS wonderful how all your books seem to fit together almost as if you knew what was going to happen in the 6th book when you wrote the 1st. I know things change as you go through the writing process, but the fact that it all seems so natural and unforced makes it most enjoyable to me! And I think that the supporting characters are so well developed and real helps as well. :)
