NIGHT JASMINE a Romantic Times Top Pick!

It has been a glorious week for The Temptation of the Night Jasmine all around. With only one week left to go until the Official Release Day (January 22nd!), the happy reviews have been pouring in.

Romantic Times named Night Jasmine a Top Pick, enthusing, “Witty, smart, carefully detailed and highly entertaining, Willig’s latest is an inventive, addictive novel.” Huzzah!

Meanwhile, over at All About Romance, the marvelous LinnieGayl writes that she “enjoyed [Night Jasmine] a great deal”, and gives a special thumbs up to the strong friendship between Charlotte and Henrietta. I’m sure Henrietta would approve.

Finally, in my personal favorite, the sort of review to warm the deepest cockles of a writer’s heart, Debora of The Romance Readers Connection writes, “The characters, romance, history, action and adventure, and most of all the wonderful writing, makes THE TEMPTATION OF THE NIGHT JASMINE a superior and definite page-turning reading experience. After a long reading slump, THE TEMPTATION OF THE NIGHT JASMINE brought back the magic of reading”.

Many, many thanks to all! There will be more Night Jasmine excitement in the days to come. In fact, I feel like I should do something fun here on the website to celebrate its official birthday next Thursday. Any ideas?

Lest Crimson Rose feel left out, it was not without its own partisans in this week’s review round-up. Stacey of WW Ladies Book Club Blurbs opines, “Willig’s series remains brilliantly fresh after four novels. Both Mary and Vaughn’s story and its frame of Eloise’s budding relationship (with both Colin and her dissertation) kept me turning pages. All four characters walk off the page and the suspense (in either contemporary or historical times) is an automatic pageturner.”

Yay! I love when my characters walk off the page– just so long as it’s not Vaughn walking into my living room.

  1. You could, er, have an historically themed discussion? I think many of us really don’t know much about the King going mad. Unless that is in Night Jasmine…

  2. Hellfire night! (hehe)

  3. I don’t want to seem too forward, but it would be absolutely fantastic if you would consider having another contest, and rather than giving ARCs the prize could be a few signed bookplates?

  4. By the way, congratulations on the wonderful reviews. I am REALLY looking forward to next week.

  5. Thats so great about the reviews, but i dont think any of us ever doubted that it would be great.

Ummm, i dont know if its possible or not. But what about sharing some of your ideas or what you are planning for book VI, if there is going to be a book VI. Which i extremely hope so!

Can’t what for next thursday! and so excited for the next chapter of the novella!

  7. Good! If he pops up in mine, I’ll send him your way!

  8. Congratulations on the reviews! I can’t wait. I liked Julie’s (#5) suggestion.

  9. Oooh, okay, so far it’s sounding like the “Night Jasmine” celebration post might be a combo “let’s discuss where the series is going next” and a give-away of something (maybe an audio of “Night Jasmine”, maybe a B&N card).

I’m still open to other suggestions, though….

  10. Congrats on the good reviews.I like the aforementioned ideas or you could give us scenes that were deleted from Jasmine.

And is it totally wrong that every time i go to the bookstore I check to see if they accidentally put Jasmine out early?

by Elissa on January 15th, 2009 at 2:02 pm

  11. No, it’s not, Elissa. I have had to stop myself from doing just that. The anticipation is killing me! Maybe a novella involving Miles and Hen could be the prize. (Just in case you have absolutely nothing to do, Lauren.)

by Jessica on January 15th, 2009 at 2:08 pm

  12. Elissa, they did that with Crimson Rose last year…I got it at least a day early! And went straight home and read right through it, dissertation be damned…

This year, my dissertation is done, so Night Jasmine is going to help me put off grading and preparing conference papers!

  13. I’d like to second Elizabeth’s idea of a Hellfire night.

  14. Congrats on all these great reviews! I’m sure I’ll add one of my own when I read the book next week!

  15. Wonderful news - Congrats! Counting the days till the book’s release…

All the ideas to celebrate the books release sounded wonderful!

And MP (comment #6), send Vaughn this way when your finished with him! ;-)

  16. The book is being released the day after my birthday! :) I already have a copy, but I have to buy another one so that I don’t kill the one I have with reread and constant borrowings.

  18. Can’t wait counting down the days!!

  19. Is it sad that I’ve already started looking for it at the two Barnes & Noble, the Broders and the Books-A-Million near where I live and where I work?? I hate waiting, even if I know it’s worth waiting for.

by Kristen on January 17th, 2009 at 11:42 am

  20. They totally have it at my Borders, but they won’t sell it to me. The sales guy went in back and got it out of a box for me, and then his supervisor stopped him! I’m so bummed, because I’m leaving the country a couple days before it’s released. Gah!

  21. I got it today and I LOVED IT

by Ruby on January 17th, 2009 at 11:30 pm

  22. Congrats on the reviews!! All well deserved and accurate I am sure. We already know it will be fantastic!! And personally, I wish Colin would walk into my living room….

  23. I ordered mine but it has not come yet. i ordered about five books that come out at the same time and two have them have been released early for mail but my others are holding up my order!!! Do they not know how irritating that is when you wait a year for the next book.
