Author on the Move, Part I: Dallas!

Hi, all!

As you may have noticed from the side panel here, I’m going to be darting around a bit for the next few weekends. For those of you in the Dallas area, I’ll be at Fresh Fiction’s Readers ‘n Ritas Conference on Saturday, October 11th.

I’ve appended their message about the conference below. I’ve had the privilege of meeting the Fresh Fiction ladies before and can say, with complete sincerity, that they’re just plain fun. If you’ve read it, they’ve read it, which is rare and wonderful.

For those not participating in the conference, I’ll be around at the Richardson-North Dallas Radisson Hotel through Sunday afternoon, so if you want to pop by on Saturday or Sunday and get a book signed or just say hi, just send me an email and let me know and I’ll arrange to be in the hotel lobby, pink pen in hand, at a certain time.

And now over to Fresh Fiction:

Want to join a group of readers who have infamous stories of having so much fun they’ve been tossed from bars, asked to leave restaurants, closed down tea rooms. Now’s your chance to have such a good time — you’ll become part of the legend!

Let me tell you all about the first Fresh Fiction Readers Conference. We’re holding our inaugural Readers ‘n ‘ritas (because we’re readers and we love to chat over margaritas! Plus if you say it really fast it will trip off your tongue and you’ll sound cool?!?!) on Saturday, October 11th at the Richardson (North Dallas) Radisson Hotel. And we want YOU to join the celebration! This will be the PREMIERE Reading Event of the Season. For readers, about readers, and by readers!

We’re offering a special discount through September 30th — only $100 and tickets are limited.

So what do you get? Well a day of sessions on topics like: Covers Tell the Story, Deals and Steals, So You Want To Be a Reviewer, Books You May Have Missed, Book Club How-tos and Don’ts, plus fun stuff like Do You Miss the Euphemisms? and Care and Handling of a Top Notch Book Collection. Plus lots of time to sit and discuss books with fellow passionate readers.

And food, did we forget? Lunch and dinner will be with authors up close and personal in an informal way and for longer than a signing. Our author guests include some names you’re familiar with — Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lauren Willig, Dakota Cassidy, Dianna Love, Rosemary Clement-Moore, Jodi Thomas, Michele Bardsley, plus names you’ll KNOW after the conference including Jaye Wells! And our mistress of talk is the bubbly and fabulous local radio personality AND author Candace Havens!

Raise your glass (or pitcher) with new friends and passionately discuss books. It may sound contentious but when else will you have the opportunity to sound off on the direction a fave author takes in a series, or find out if that new book is worth the hype, or discover a brand-new-to-you series! It’s all part of what we call ‘rita therapy.’ And the first margarita is included!

You’ll also get to browse, buy and trade at the huge romance book trade. Complete a collection or start a new one! And what gathering is complete without raffle baskets? All the money we raise goes to literacy so you’ll be helping others share your passionate obsession with books!

Plus test your knowledge (and win prizes) by stumping the experts on your knowledge of romance novels, authors and trivia. Where else will you get to show off some of that “useless” information you’ve learned over the years of reading? It’s time for the payoff! And all in good fun!

And wait, that’s not all, you’ll also get a swag bag filled with books and other goodies! So don’t delay, be part of the legend and join us on October 11th!

Get your TICKET today!! Tell your friends and join us for a ‘rita on Saturday, October 11th!!!

  1. Oh I am so bummed I am not in Texas or Illinois. Any chance you will be near North Carolina some time in the future? I think it is great that you are willing to meet readers outside the event to give them an opportunity to get a signed book. Wish I could be there.

  2. Hi, Christine! Alas, no North Carolina plans right now, but I’ll keep you posted. I’ll be roaming around more in February, after “Night Jasmine” makes its debut.

  3. That looks like so much fun! Wish I was in Dallas. Any updated tour info yet for “Nigh Jasmine”? Any plans on coming to NYC?

  4. Hi, Faith! Since I live in NYC, there will definitely be a reading here– Pink III and IV fell victims to circumstance, the former to my working at a law firm, the latter to a bizarre scheduling kerfuffle. Since none of those circumstances apply this time around, I have no excuse for not appearing at a bookstore in my own hometown!

I’ll post details on both the New York appearance and others as soon as I know them– but that probably won’t be till December or even early January.

  5. Thank God I live near a big city: any plans for San Francisco?

  6. Okay, I know I used to bug you about Illinois, but now I live in Indiana…I would still take Chicago, though! :)

I never actually lived anywhere near Gurnee, though, to be technical…
